It's a frustrating time to be a football supporter, with recent off-the-field events bringing fixtures across the UK to a temporary halt.

There is yet to be a return date scheduled, with the focus purely being on the health of the nation during this difficult period of time.

One team that will be hoping they can show an improvement in results when they return to action is Sheffield Wednesday, who have struggled since the turn of the New Year.

The Owls are currently sat 15th in the Championship table, and have won just once in their last ten matches, which doesn't make for good reading at all.

Speaking in an interview with BBC North (quotes sourced from Yorkshire Live), Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox expressed his eagerness to get back playing, but only when it is deemed safe enough to do so by the relevant authorities.

"Of course, we want to finish the games that we have got to play. But, like I have said before, the preference has to be everyone's safety and well being. I think that comes above anything else in life. It is massive compared to football which, at the end of the day, is irrelevant compared to that.

"Hopefully we can get back and finish the games but, like I said, safety first over everything."

Fox went on to issue an insight into training from home, and revealed that it is 'tough' at this moment in time, with no return date finalised as of yet.

"It is tough. I like to keep myself in a good shape over the holidays when we are off during the holiday season but it is dragging on now. It will be coming up to six weeks at the end of this lockdown.

"It will be a long time training on your own. My missus isn't very happy because I have been dragging her out with me!

"It is mentally tough because you are on your own and out there grinding. Let's be honest: we don't really know if we are going back to finish the season. Like I say, I like to keep myself fit and ticking over so it has not been too bad."

The Verdict:

He's been one of the few players that can come away with some credit to his name from this season.

Sheffield Wednesday's season has been extremely poor since the turn of the New Year, and they'll be hoping that they can finish this year's campaign strongly if/when football returns to the sporting calendar.

The quality of players is in the squad for the Owls, but for one reason or another, something just simply isn't clicking during matches.
