Troy Parrott and Tottenham Hotspur are on the same page regarding the forward’s immediate future, according to Football London.

The forward has a number of Championship sides chasing a temporary signature of the Irishman.

This includes the likes of Swansea City, Preston North End, QPR and Middlesbrough.

The striker spent the previous campaign on loan with MK Dons in the third division, where he scored eight goals and earned seven assists as the team finished 3rd in the table.

But both Spurs and the 20-year old believe going out on loan again this campaign will be the right path for him to take on his development.

Parrott is currently with the first team squad as part of their pre-season preparations in South Korea, where Antonio Conte is taking a first-hand look at the player before making any concrete decision.

This is the first time the youngster has taken part in Spurs’ pre-season tour since 2019.

But now Parrott is targeting a place in the Premier League side’s matchday squads in 2023-24, with another loan being seen as an ideal next step on the path to that goal next year.

It remains to be seen which side he will ultimately compete for next campaign but in all likelihood it will be with one in the second division.

The Verdict

This is the right step for Parrott’s development, with a move to the Championship a good test of his current ability.

His stint at MK Dons showed a lot of promise, but proving himself at a higher level will be crucial if he does want to break into the Spurs team.

If he can continue his upward trajectory with a top side in the second tier then that will only increase his stock tenfold.

But it is currently too soon to think about a place alongside the likes of Harry Kane or Hueng-Min Son, so a move away makes the most sense for this season.
