Swansea City defender Joe Rodon remains a Tottenham target, but the Premier League side are reportedly unwilling to pay more than £7m for his service.

It has been reported by Mike Keegan of Mail Sport on Twitter that Spurs are unwilling to go above that seven-figure fee to land the Swansea centre-back.

Sky Sports reported yesterday (09:01) that discussions were taking place over a deal worth between £7m and £18m – a wide ballpark.

The 22-year-old centre-back has made 54 appearances for Swansea, who he began his career with.

An ankle injury ruled the Welsh international out of the Swansea run-in in the Championship last season, with Steve Cooper’s side crashing into the play-offs without the service of their talented defender.

However, he’s been back at the start of the current campaign, making four appearances and helping Cooper’s side make an unbeaten start to the new season.

Swansea have 10 points from a possible 12 on the board and sit third, behind only Bristol City and Reading (the two 100% records in the division).

Spurs, like Swansea, have made a positive start to the season and beat Manchester United 6-1 on Sunday.

The Verdict

If Spurs are unwilling to go above £7m, it’s a big concern for the Premier League side chasing this deal.

Reports suggest talks of a deal between £7-18m are taking place, which indicates that £7m is where Spurs value the player and £18m where Swansea do.

There’s a lot of negotiating between that and it’ll be interesting to see if Tottenham change their stance at all.
