Tottenham are ready to change Kion Etete's development path a little with them set to recall him from Northampton Town and then send him to Cheltenham Town, as per Alex Crook on Twitter.

Etete is a bright young player and one that has done well for the Cobblers in Sky Bet League Two, with them looking to seal a promotion to Sky Bet League One at the end of this season.

He's hit five goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for the men from Sixfields, and now it seems as though Spurs feel he is ready to step up a division.

Indeed, it's a blow to Northampton but their loss could well be Cheltenham's gain, with them currently sitting in 15th in the third tier and looking to secure safety as soon as possible.

As mentioned, this comes from Alex Crook:

The Verdict

It is going to be a blow for Northampton but this is ultimately one of the risks of the loan market.

A player that excels will obviously alert his parent club and they will then feel it is worth seeing what they can do at a higher level.

That appears to be exactly the course that Etete is going to be set on and we'll just have to wait and see what he can do for Cheltenham.
