Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur could recall defender Cameron Carter-Vickers from his loan spell at Swansea City and move him to Wigan Athletic, according to Teamtalk.

The 21-year old has made just six league starts for Graham Potter's men since arriving at the Liberty Stadium on loan from Spurs in the summer, having fallen behind the likes of Joe Rodon and Mike van der Hoorn in the pecking order for the Welsh club.

In order to ensure that the American international earns regular game-time elsewhere, the London club could look to recall the defender from his loan spell in Wales, with Wigan Athletic reportedly leading the chase to land the defensive stalwart.

Ipswich Town were believed to be interested in re-signing the 21-year old after impressing at Portman Road on loan last term, as Paul Lambert's men look to push up the Championship table.

But Paul Cook's Latics, who have conceded 41 goals in the league this term, are now said to be the front-runners in the race to land the centre-back.

Wigan currently sit 20th in the Sky Bet Championship table, six points clear of the relegation zone despite winning just two of their last 15 league games.

The Verdict

Carter-Vickers could be a great signing for Wigan.

He may have fallen out of favour at Swansea this season, but he is a quality player on his day when given the chance to prove his worth.

They definitely need to strengthen their defence having conceded so many goals this term.
