Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to intensify their pursuit of Fulham teenager Steven Sessegnon.

The Premier League side signed Ryan Sessegnon for £25 million in the summer and it appears they’re now intent on adding his brother to their squad.

According to The Sun, Fulham rejected an offer of £3 million for the player from Spurs when the deal was done for Ryan Sessegnon in August.

The report claims that the Championship club are concerned that Tottenham are set to return with another offer for the 19-year-old soon.

Steven Sessegnon has made a strong start to the season for Fulham, starting the last four Championship games at right-back, earning Man of the Match on his league debut, and helping the Whites take seven points from four games.

Such has been the impressive nature of his performances that he has been called up into the England under-21 squad for the European Championship qualifiers against Turkey and Kosovo by Aidy Boothroyd.

The teenager offers real versatility, as he is comfortable playing in all positions across the backline and has also been utilised as a midfielder in the past.

A product of the Fulham academy, Steven Sessegnon had made just four senior appearances for the club before the start of the season but has equaled that already in the 2019/20 campaign and looks set to feature regularly for Scott Parker moving forward.

The 19-year-old’s current contract at Craven Cottage runs until 2022, with the option to extend that by a further 12 months.

The Verdict

This may be a frustrating one for the Championship club as it appears Spurs have got their eyes on taking Fulham’s latest young talent just as he is beginning to break into the first-team.

However, having negotiated a significant fee for his brother back in August, the club may feel confident the sale of Steven Sessegnon could provide them with another financial boost.

If the Premier League club do come in with another bid, Fulham may look to secure a similar deal to the one Leeds United got for Jack Clarke, which has seen the 18-year-old loaned back to Elland Road this season.
