Tottenham Hotspur are set to reject Norwich City's approach to sign Oliver Skipp on loan again for the 2021/22 season according to Football Insider

Skipp signed for the Canaries on loan back in the summer of 2020, and has gone on to play a key role in their bid for promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Norwich are well-placed to do just that, with Daniel Farke's side currently sat top of the Championship table, and ten points clear of second-placed Watford, as they head into their final 11 matches of this year's campaign.

Skipp has made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Canaries, and will be keen to feature regularly from now until the end of the season.

Norwich had previously made their intentions clear that they were looking to sign Skipp on loan for another season, but Spurs' reported decision looks to have poured cold water on any potential move back to Carrow Road in the summer.

Spurs are believed to rate the youngster highly, and believe that he can play regularly in the Premier League with them next season.

Jose Mourinho's side are currently sat seventh in the top-flight standings, and will be eager to finish this year's campaign strongly, starting with a positive result against Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Skipp and his Norwich City team-mates are set to return to action this weekend, when they take on relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

The Verdict:

This will be a frustrating blow for Norwich City.

I've been really impressed with Skipp's performances this season, and he strikes me as the sort of player that is more than capable of playing regularly in the Premier League next term.

But Spurs clearly have a plan in place for him to be involved in their first-team, and I think he'll fit into their side relatively comfortably.

Norwich can't dwell on this reported decision by Jose Mourinho's side though, as there will be plenty of alternatives they can turn to in the summer.
