Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino will allow defender Cameron Carter- Vickers to go out on loan this season, with Swansea City a likely destination.

According to Talksport, the 20-year-old centre half, who spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, looks set to join Graham Potter’s side after being given the all clear by the Spurs head coach.

Carter-Vickers made has made a total of four appearances for Tottenham since joining the club in 2016, and spent the early stages of last season on loan at Bramall Lane, where he played 18 times, helping the Blades reach a tenth place finish in the league table.

The United States international is unlikely to feature at all this season for Tottenham, and with the Swans in desperate need of new defenders having sold Federico Fernandez to Newcastle and Alfie Mawson to Fulham, it could be a good move for all parties.

The youngster came through the youth academy at White Hart Lane, and has experience in England’s second flight with both Sheffield United and Ipswich Town.

The Verdict

This could be a potentially very good move for Swansea City, who have started the 2018/19 Championship campaign with two win from their opening three matches.

In the absence of Mawson and Fernandez, the centre back position is somewhat up for grabs at the Liberty Stadium, making Carter-Vickers a strong addition to the Swansea side.

Graham Potter’s side came into the season as potential favourites to gain promotion back to the Premier League, and the young American defender could just help them with that.
