QPR have shown their interest in Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott, and are keen to bring the 17-year-old on loan to Loftus Road, according to Sky Sports.

They report that QPR's unlikeliness of getting a permanent deal for Nahki Wells sorted means the club have turned their attention on other options, with the Irish youngster closely being looked at.

Parrott has also attracted attention from Charlton Athletic, and Tottenham are open for the youngster to go out on loan and get more first-team minutes under his belt, but would prefer him to commit his future to Spurs first.

If a deal gets completed, it would be the second Tottenham youngster to move to Loftus Road this January, as Jack Clarke made the switch across London on loan earlier this month until the end of the season.

Wells's recall by parent club Burnley means that QPR now currently have a lack centre-forwards at the club - Jordan Hugill and and 21-year-old Jan Mlakar are the only two recognised natural strikers that are on the books.

Jack Clarke is also capable of playing up front, but is more suited to the wings. Therefore, Mark Warburton will ideally want to strengthen his squad before Friday.

Parrott has featured twice for Tottenham this season, with his most recent appearance for Spurs against Burnley in December, where he came on as a 85th minute substitute.

The Verdict

QPR's interest in Troy Parrott all but means they have now started to turn their attention away from trying to secure a permanent deal for Nahki Wells, with the club not able to meet Burnley's valuation.

Parrott is a talented youngster that could fit in well with how QPR like to play their football, but it is also a risk on their part.

This is because at 17, he is still at a very young age, and does not have much prior experience of senior football.

On the other hand, Jose Mourinho rates him highly.
