Tottenham Hotspur are said to have offered Kion Etete in exchange for Northampton Town striker Caleb Chukwuemeka, as per a recent report by Football Insider.

As previously reported by the same publication earlier in the month, Spurs are keen on tying up a deal for the Cobblers teenager and have opened talks with the Sky Bet League Two side.

It is now believed that the Premier League club are willing to use Etete as a potential sweetener in order to get the deal over the line for Chukwuemeka.

Etete has spent the past few seasons with the North London club after signing from Notts County and stands at six foot six inches.

Spurs are very big admirers of Chukwuemeka and are said to view him as a player that they can bring in and develop before loaning out.

Northampton have offered a 19-year-old a new contract, however their previous offers have been rebuffed as the forward looks to aim high.

The Verdict

My expectations would be that Northampton would be entitled for some form of compensation as part of this deal as the striker has been on their books for quite some time.

This swap deal would suit them well and it would mean that they bring in a like for like replacement, with Etete having already shown great potential for Tottenham's under-23 side.

Attackers are hard to come by on permanent deals in the lower leagues and this could be an opportunity that is too good for the Cobblers to turn down.

I certainly feel that Spurs will get their man as part of this deal and I think that Northampton will be more than willing to grant him his wish of a move to one of the country's top level clubs.

Overall this transfer will suit all the parties involved.
