Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly on the look-out for a new left-back following Danny Rose’s spat with manager Mauricio Pochettino, after the fit-again England international described himself as ‘fuming’ after being left out of the North London derby.

Rose was consequently left out of the game with West Bromwich Albion, and it looks increasingly likely that the player will leave the club in January.

The Guardian reports that Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon tops Pochettino’s wishlist, with the wonderkid fast becoming one of the best players of his position in the English game.

At just 17-years-old, Sessegnon is already performing well beyond his years, and many have touted the player to exceed the level Gareth Bale achieved at Tottenham before his then world-record switch to Real Madrid.

Manchester United are keen on a move for Rose, with suggestion that Luke Shaw could head to North London, but Sessegnon may become Pochettino’s preferred option in the coming months.

The Verdict

Ryan Sessegnon will be in the England squad by the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, and possibly one of the best players in the European game by this stage.

An extremely bold claim, but one that I am willing to make given the exceptional level of performance this teenage sensation is showing on a consistent basis at such a young age.

If Sessegnon is to move, he must move to a club where is the guaranteed starter, and he could achieve this at Tottenham should Rose move on.

If the player can become a Premier League regular at a top-four club by the start of next season, he will go on to achieve great things.
