Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are interested in on loan Preston North End keeper Jordan Pickford, according to Clubcall.
The 21-year-old is a Sunderland player but has never made an appearance for the Black Cats, and has had seven loan spells away from the club, in order to gain experience for whenever they deem him fit to become the number one.
The England under-21 international signed for Bradford City on loan in League One last year, and impressed enough to be taken on loan by Preston North End, who were promoted to the Championship via the play-offs.
After putting in some scintillating performances for the Lilywhites, he’s now attracted Premier League attention, and it is hardly a surprise as he has been excellent for Preston.
Spurs may be looking for a long term successor to Hugo Lloris, who firmly remains the number one with back up from Michel Vorm.
This flurry of interest may rule Preston out of the race to keep him on on a more permanent basis, as the club have also expressed an interest in doing so.
Preston fans… What do you make of this news? Has Pickford been your player of the season? Is he destined for great things? Is there any chance of you keeping him on permanently? Let us know in the comments below!
