Darren Bent has said that Jarrod Bowen could be a perfect fit for Newcastle United.

The Hull City star has been a revelation for the Tigers this term, scoring an impressive 16 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions.

This has led to reported interest from Newcastle United who are keen to bolster their attacking ranks.

Whether a move materialises remains to be seen, but according to the former Tottenham and Sunderland striker, Bent believes that Bowen has the required skills and personality to be a hit at St James' Park.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bent said: Yeah, I think he has got the right mentality to fit in at Newcastle as well.

“He’ll understand where they are and fit in really well there.

“Like I’ve said before I love what Newcastle are doing at the minute, I like some of the transfer targets they’re going for, I really like it, and everyone that’s been spoken about seems to fit.

“So long may it continue as at the minute Steve Bruce is working miracles and what you don’t want is players coming into the club and upsetting it all by not showing the right attitude or mentality.

“So I think he’ll be the perfect signing.”

The verdict

While Hull City will be determined to keep Jarrod Bowen, they may face a difficult test to do so.

The 22-year-old is arguably the best player in the Championship at the moment meaning that interest from the Premier League is inevitable.

It's likely that the best the Tigers can hope for is to keep hold of Bowen until the summer so that they can line up a suitable replacement ahead of the new season.
