Tottenham Hotspur could miss out on the signing of highly-rated Fulham youngster Moussa Dembele, as the forward is thought to prefer a move to Ligue 1 side Monaco, according to The Mirror.
It had been widely reported in recent days that Spurs were close to securing the transfer of the 19-year-old, but that move has now been thrown into doubt.
Reports earlier on Thursday claimed that the Premier League side were set to seal a £5 million deal for the former PSG youth product, but Dembele is allegedly keen to return to France.
The news will come as a blow to Spurs, who have been undergoing discussions with the Championship club over a switch for several weeks.
Dembele, a France Under-20 international, has enjoyed a breakthrough at the Cottagers this season, scoring 11 goals in 29 matches in all competitions.
Despite his importance to the club, Fulham are thought to be willing to cash in on the star in the coming days rather than losing him for free with his contract due to expire in the summer.
