Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the favourites to land the signature of Bristol City youngster Lloyd Kelly ahead of the January transfer window according to The Mirror.

The 20-year-old has been ever-present for Lee Johnson's side in the Championship this season, and it will come as a huge blow to Bristol City supporters, many of whom would have hoped that they could keep hold of their young talent.

Kelly has made 17 starts in Bristol City's league campaign this season and has been used as both a centre-back and a full-back for Johnson's side.

It was previously reported by the Mirror, that Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on the defender who is clearly a youngster in demand ahead of the transfer window.

Spurs are in need of cover in defence and if they were to beat their rivals to land Kelly's signature, then he could play a crucial role in the club's future going forward.

The youngster impressed in Bristol City's win over Birmingham at the weekend, which is thought to have alerted the likes of Spurs, with the January transfer window edging ever-closer.

It's sure to be an interesting January for Kelly who will be the subject of interest from Premier League giants, but he will be hoping to have his future resolved as quickly as possible.

The Robins host league-leaders Norwich City next weekend and Kelly will be keen to impress in front of the Sky Sports cameras, with many potential suitors watching on.

The Verdict:

This would be an excellent bit of business for Spurs.

Kelly has been arguably, Bristol City's best player this season and he is one of the most sought after young talents in the Championship.

It's no surprise to see the Premier League giants eyeing a deal for the 20-year-old in January, as he could playa starring role in the future for Tottenham.
