Having already seen Ryan Babel, Berti Schotterl and Lazar Markovic make permanent exits from Craven Cottage this summer, Fulham are now set to say goodbye to Ryan Sessegnon.

According to BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein, Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Scott Parker's side over a £25m deal for the 19-year-old with midfielder Josh Onomah set to join the Cottagers as part of the deal.

Sessegnon, who has been a target for Spurs for a considerable chunk of the transfer window, did not feature for Fulham during their opening day defeat to Barnsley last weekend.

Whereas the winger did struggle for consistency at times last season in the Premier League, during his most recent Championship campaign he was directly involved in 21 goals for the Cottagers as they sealed promotion via the play-offs.

Although he has featured in a number of cup games for Tottenham, Onomah has failed to make a single appearance in the top-flight for the London-based outfit and spent the entirety of the 2018/19 season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Verdict

Despite the writing being on the wall for months in regards to the possibility of Sessegnon moving onto pastures new, it will still be a bitter pill to swallow for Fulham to see one of their academy graduates leave this summer.

However, the arrival of Onomah should go some way to soften the blow as the midfielder possesses an abundance of talent which if displayed on a regular basis could allow the Cottagers to push for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Furthermore, when you consider that Sessegnon had entered the final year of his Fulham contract, it could be argued that the club have done exceptionally well to secure a £25m fee for the England under-21 international.

Whereas it is unlikely that Parker will be able to directly re-invest the money from Sessegnon's sale in the little time that remains in the summer transfer window, he could use the windfall to bolster his squad in January.
