Tottenham are close to signing Leeds United Jack Clarke for around £15m, although the winger could be sent back to Elland Road next season as part of the deal.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a real breakthrough last season, featuring in 24 games as Marcelo Bielsa's side finished third in the Championship.

Such form caught the eye of top clubs in the country, with Spurs known admirers of the teenager who only managed two goals but impressed with his speed and technical ability.

And, it appears as though the Champions League finalists have won the race for the player, with the Express claiming that Clarke is set to move to the North London outfit for £15m.

However, as part of the agreement they state that a return to Leeds could be on the cards for next season which would be a very positive outcome for the Whites and the youngster who would get more game time.

Boss Bielsa is desperate to bring in new wingers already this summer so not having Clarke would leave the squad even shorter in those positions.

The Verdict

This seems as though it would be a great move for all concerned.

Firstly, the chance to sign for Spurs as a young player has to appeal because they are a club on the up, competing at the top and in Mauricio Pochettino they have a manager who gives youth a chance.

As for Leeds, £15m is a lot of money for their academy graduate who has very little experience and those sort of funds could seriously help Bielsa if he is allowed to spend them elsewhere on the team.

Yet, the best part is that they would keep Clarke next season to help their promotion push and it will given him regular football that he wouldn't get every week for Spurs.
