Aston Villa are yet to receive a bid for the service of Jack Grealish, despite speculation constantly linking the midfielder with a move to Tottenham.

After Villa failed to secure promotion back to the Premier League last season, Grealish, amongst others, is expected to be heading for the exit door, with Spurs known to be interested in a move for the 22-year-old.

However, according to BBC West Midlands, Villa are yet to receive a bid for the midfielder, despite plenty of speculation flying around that he is set to make a move to Spurs to link up with Mauricio Pochettino.

The same report from BBC WM does indicate that a move still looks likely.

Last season, Grealish was amongst Villa’s most impressive performers, helping Steve Bruce’s side finish fourth in the Sky Bet Championship table.

The midfielder scored three goals and registered a further six assists, with his form during the run-in crucial, as Villa flirted with a Premier League return under Bruce.

However, failure to win promotion in the play-offs has left Villa in a difficult financial position, as they prepare themselves for a third consecutive year in the Championship.

The Verdict

It’s taking time for Spurs to make their move for Grealish, with it probably best for all parties involved if this deal gets moving soon.

Villa could do with the money, whilst Pochettino is clearly keen to get Grealish on board ahead of the new season.

Once the wheels are in motion, you’d imagine Spurs will wrap up Grealish’s service quickly.
