Norwich City star James Maddison is now being pursued by six Premier League clubs, according to a report by The Telegraph.

The Canaries face an increasingly difficult task of keeping their prize asset at Carrow Road beyond the summer with the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur lurking.

Arsenal, Southampton and Brighton are also in the hunt for Maddison, who has lit up the Championship with some scintillating displays this summer.

The former Coventry City academy graduate has only really broken into the Norwich senior side on a regular basis this season but his tally of 14 goals and eight assists have not gone unnoticed.

The attacking midfielder has impressed with his passing range, skill and set piece ability, making him one of the most in-demand players in the second tier.

The 21-year-old, who was named in the EFL Championship Team of the Year, is thought to be rated at about £25m with that price tag unlikely to deter the top names in English football.

Alongside the Premier League giants, south coast duo Brighton and Southampton remain keen and will hope that an offer of regular playing time will attract Maddison to their club instead, although the Saints could miss out if they are relegated.

The Verdict

Having watched Maddison grow as a player during his time at Coventry, I know firsthand just how talented this boy is. Alongside Callum Wilson, he is the most talented player to come out of the Coventry academy in many, many years. It was never in doubt that he'd make it at the top level but he must choose his next team wisely; perhaps a mid-table Premier League team - who can offer him a starring role in midfield - would be a better choice than making a big move now.
