Toto Nsiala makes claim over Ipswich Town squad

Ipswich Town defender Toto Nsiala has claimed to TWTD that the club needs to be higher in the league because of the players they have in their squad.

The Tractor Boys have experienced a slow start to the campaign under their manager Paul Cook and as a result of this they have only won four of their opening 13 league games.

However after beating Portsmouth 4-0 away on Tuesday, there is now a sense of renewed optimism around Portman Road that times could be changing for the better as they look to pick up another win this weekend against Fleetwood Town.

Now Nsiala has made the following claim about the club’s current squad as he looks ahead at what is to come:

“Honestly, with the squad we’ve got and the quality of players we have we need to be higher in the league.

“It’s a joke, when you look at our bench on Tuesday, for example, we had players who are capable of destroying other teams, so we really need to be winning games and Saturday is a day when we should be thinking about picking up three points.”

Quiz: Did these 25 Ipswich Town transfers actually happen?

1 of 25

Ipswich have loaned Luke Woolfenden to Swindon?

Fleetwood by comparison currently sit in 20th place, some four points behind the Tractor Boys, having played a game less than their hosts.

Meanwhile a victory for Ipswich on home turf could see them move up as high as ninth place if other results go their way this weekend.

The Verdict

It’s hard to disagree with the centre back’s comments as Cook and his staff have assembled a team of players that probably wouldn’t look out of place in the league above.

Their form on the pitch has said otherwise however and now they really need to start showing some consistency with not only their results but also their performances.

The last thing they will want is a false dawn and now they must go out and beat Fleetwood in as convincing a fashion as they did Portsmouth.

Ipswich fans will be expecting their side to win again and that expectation has certainly been heightened by the team’s performance on Tuesday.
