Watford have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Daryl Janmaat to terminate the defender's contract at Vicarage Road.

Janmaat joined Watford from Newcastle back in the summer of 2016, and went onto make 85 appearances in all competitions for the Hornets during his time with the club.

The Dutchman also found the net six times during that three-year spell at Vicarage Road, which has now come to a somewhat premature end.

Despite only signing a new contract with Watford back in February, which had been set to run until the summer of 2022, it has now been announced that the club and player have come to an agreement for the 31-year-old to leave the club on a free transfer, opening him up for a move elsewhere.

Taking to Twitter to react to news of Janmaat's departure, plenty of Watford fans were keen to pay tribute and give their thoughts on the defender's time at Vicarage Road.

Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say.
