Brentford have confirmed the capture of Barnsley defender Ethan Pinnock on an initial three-year deal, the Bees have confirmed.

The 26-year-old arrives at Griffin Park for a fee believed to be around £3million, and the deal also includes the option for a further year on his contract.

Pinnock played a starring role during Barnsley's promotion-winning season last term, as he was an ever-present figure in league for Daniel Stendel's side.

He becomes the third key member of Barnsley's defensive unit to depart this summer, with centre-back partner Liam Lindsay and goalkeeper Adam Davies both joining Stoke last week.

The former Forest Green man will now link up with his new Bees teammates, as he looks set to help fill the void left by defender Yoann Barbet who joined QPR earlier this summer.

Brentford announced the signing via their Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon:

Plenty of Brentford fans responded to news of the signing, with many of them applauding the club for completing their move for the highly regarded defender.
