The summer transfer window as drawing to a close when Ipswich Town made their move for full back Kane Vincent-Young.

The 23-year-old had enjoyed a couple of seasons with Colchester United in League One, having started his career with Tottenham Hotspur. He didn't make the grade with Spurs and arrived at Colchester via a short spell with Banbury.

During his time in League One, he established himself as a quick and able full back, keen to get forward and help out in attack as much as do the defensive work. As his contract wound down it was clear he was destined for better things and he joined the Colchester exodus along with Sammie Szmodics and Frankie Kent.

He penned a four-year deal with the Tractor Boys, a long contract to offer a player coming out of the basement division. It certainly showed their faith in him, but also gave the fans hope he might be a golden find.

They were largely impressed with his capture, with many commenting on how it showed ambition in getting back out of the division. fans of his former club, Colchester United, also praised him as he left for pastures new.

Their excited was well-founded. Vincent-Young has been a revelation and is demonstrating exactly why he was so highly-rated at Colchester. He's a competent full back, able to marshall the defence as well as get up and down the line to aid the attack. He's chipped in with a couple of goals and has settled incredibly well.

Ipswich lead the table by four points and will do so despite their international break this weekend. They've got one game in hand of their nearest challengers and as the season progresses they're likely to remain in the hunt. Kane Vincent-Young will be a key part of that and, as one Colchester fan commented at the time of his arrival, he'll soon be in the Championship which is where his potential suggests he should play.
