It was yet another disappointing afternoon for Aston Villa on Saturday, as Dean Smith's men fell further away from the Sky Bet Championship play-off places. 

A ruthless West Bromwich Albion made the short journey to Villa Park in preparation for what was shaping up to be a fiery local derby between the two sides, and it was the Baggies who came out on top.

Two quickfire goals from Hal Robson-Kanu and Jay Rodriguez put the Baggies 2-0 up before half-time, and with the atmosphere turning toxic at Villa Park, the Villans were unable to ignite a comeback as they did against Sheffield United.

The result leaves Villa sitting 10th in the table, seven points off the play-offs with teams above them having played a game or two less. There were very few impressive performers for Villa, but Tyrone Mings put in yet another strong display at the back - and after the game, the defender took to Twitter to call for unity between players and fans.
