Leeds United will have to remain patient in their bid to win promotion into the Premier League, with recent events calling a halt to proceedings in sporting events across the UK.Β

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are currently sat top of the Championship table, and will be hoping that they can hold their nerve as they look to win a long-awaited promotion into the top-flight this term.

One player that will be key to their chances of doing just that is club captain Liam Cooper, who has made 30 appearances in total this season for the Yorkshire-based side.

Speaking in a Q&A for Deliveroo’s new series (quotes sourced from Leeds’ official website), Leeds captain Liam Cooper revealed that he always dreamt of playing for the Whites, whilst growing up as a youngster.

“It’s funny really. I don’t know why but my dad was always a West Ham fan, my family were Hull City fans, but because I’m defiant, I wanted to go against everyone and support Leeds. So it went from there really.

“My dad tried to drag me to West Ham games, but I never really enjoyed it, especially compared to watching Leeds in the Champions League days. I always had the dream of playing for Leeds, and I’ve exceeded that in captaining the club.

“My name is with a lot of greats and hopefully in a few years I can be remembered for a lot more. I take inspiration from that and strive to be as good as those guys.”

Plenty of Leeds United supporters took to social media to react to Cooper’s latest reveal.
