Wolverhampton Wanderers could face a fight to keep hold of Romain Saiss after the midfielder was linked with a move to Serie A side Fiorentina.

The Moroccan international, who is set to play at the World Cup in the summer, has had a fine season under Nuno Espirito Santo after falling out of favour with Paul Lambert last year.

He has formed an extremely effective partnership with Ruben Neves at the heart of the Wolves midfield that has contributed significantly to the smooth style of play they adopt.

And, according to Corriere Dello Sport, that has prompted interest from La Viola who will look to make Saiss one of several signings before the window is closed.

Given the position Wolves find themselves in and the form Saiss has shown, it would take a very large offer to prise the 27-year old from Molineux in the January window.

Having sold Jack Price to Colorado Rapids and Lee Evans to Sheffield United, it’s also an area of the pitch that Wolves don’t have a lot of depth in.

The Verdict

Wolves fans will be slightly concerned that Saiss is linked with a club the size of Fiorentina as a move would surely appeal, but you can’t imagine they will sell the midfielder.

He has been integral to their success so far this season and has openly spoken about how much he enjoys playing under Santo because of the style of play.

Given the Premier League looks a strong possibility and with a World Cup on the horizon, it would take a massive deal to get Wolves to sell and Saiss to agree to move.
