Valencia are hoping to hold talks with Leeds United over the availability of Samu Saiz, with the playmaker’s future at Elland Road still up in the air.

Leeds allowed Saiz to depart Elland Road on loan during the winter, with Getafe and La Liga the 28-year-old’s destination.

Getafe currently have the option to purchase Saiz permanently in the summer, but he’s had a limited impact in Spain, with the Yorkshire Evening Post suggesting they will not look to take up that agreement.

Now, El Gol Digital are reporting that Valencia want to hold talks over Saiz, who remains keen to stay in Spain after leaving Elland Road in the winter.

It states that Getafe do have a €6.5m option to sign Saiz, but it again highlights that it is not clear if Valencia’s La Liga rivals will take that up.

Saiz spent 18 months at Elland Road, representing Leeds in the Championship on 54 occasions.

19 of those came under Marcelo Bielsa earlier this season, with Saiz not returning a goal and managing just four assists, despite Leeds’ lofty position in the Championship’s promotion race.

The Verdict

This is an interesting development as Saiz is hardly lighting up Spanish football.

Valencia are a big club in Spain and a move there would be a boost for Saiz, with people obviously seeing past his lack of form.

With a Leeds future seemingly very unlikely, the Whites needs to find Saiz a permanent home as soon as possible in the summer, whether that is Getafe, Valencia or somewhere else.
