Blackburn Rovers have strengthened their defensive options ahead of the new Championship season, after announcing the signing of defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

Adarabioyo spent last year on loan in the Championship with West Brom, making 36 appearances in all competitions to help the Baggies to a fourth-place finish in the second tier, although they missed out on promotion via the play-offs after defeat to Aston Villa at the semi-final stage.

Prior to his loan move to The Hawthorns last season, Adarabioyo had made seven appearances in all competitions for the Premier League champions, and has two years remaining on his contract with Pep Guardiola's side.

The centre back has become Rovers' fifth signing of the summer transfer window, with Stewart Downing, Bradley Johnson and Sam Gallagher all joining the club on permanent deals, while Christian Walton has moved to Ewood Park on a season-long loan from Brighton.

Taking to Twitter to react to news of Adarabioyo's arrival a number of Blackburn fans appeared excited by the club's new recruit, and urged their side to push on in the final few days of the summer transfer window. Others meanwhile, joked about the length of time it took for Rovers to complete the signing, which had been described as 'close' several weeks ago.

Here, we take a look at what some of them had to say.
