The Sky Bet Championship is full of great strikers, and as well as being the place that many future Premier League strikers prove themselves, it is also where the greats come towards the ends of their careers.

This season we have seen 1,171 goals (add Brighton vs Forest), and whilst the majority have come from the top sides, teams like Fulham and Huddersfield haven't been able to stop scoring, even as low down the pecking order as they are.

Here, FLW's Ryan Evans will be judging the most lethal of the strikers, so not necessarily the top five scorers but the players who make the most of the resources they are given.

This means that players of the lower sides, who don't get the service that the top clubs do, who have scored well this season are in with a shout.

Honourable mentions should go to Gary Hooper, who has had an amazing season so far at Hillsborough, and Jordan Rhodes, who would have got into the top five hands down this time last year.

So, here are the top FIVE strikers in the Championship that are most lethal......

5) Abel Hernandez

The Hull striker has 19 goals this season, putting him third on the top scorers list.

His season peaked in January, when he bagged six goals in four games.

However, he, as well as his team, has fallen of the pace since, with just two goals and an assist in the following 12 games.

The Uruguayan international, who played at both the 2012 Olympics and 2014 World Cup, is responsible for 34% of his teams goals and after a difficult debut season on Humberside in the Premier League last time out, has proven his credentials in the second tier this season.

His goal in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Huddersfield should give the 25-year old plenty of confidence for the remainder of the season, and he will hope to help his team try and achieve at least third place and an 'easier' tie in the play-offs semi-finals, even if it looks like the top two are out of reach for the Tigers.

4) Nahki Wells

wellsssss

The Huddersfield Town man was once 'the next big thing' in England, and has knuckled down this term, quietly scoring 35% of the Terriers' goals.

The Bermudan-born striker's last stand-out game was the 4-1 victory over Leeds in mid-March, where he bagged a goal and an assist.

He has particularly enjoyed linking up with ex-Premier League striker Gary Hooper, who will have undoubtedly given Wells some advice on his game.

Next up for the 25-year old is a trip to Blackburn and Ewood Park, a ground he will be confident of netting more goals on.

3) Jonathan Kodjia

No-one expected Kodjia, who moved to Ashton Gate from French club Angers in the summer, to be one of the top scorers in the division come April.

A sensational debut campaign for the Frenchman means that Bristol City sit ten points clear of the drop zone in 18th place.

As of now he does not have a cap for his national team, but you wouldn't bet against that changing as the striker has three goals and an assist in his last four games and is looking to kick on.

With City all but safe, the pressure should be off his shoulders, and it could allow him to stay laid back and play with freedom.

2) Andre Gray

The top scorer in the division, Gray has been a vital cog in Burnley's table-topping XI. His partnership with Sam Vokes is one of the best in the league, and he has contributed to 36% of his teams goals, more than anyone on this list.

Netting 23 times this season, the 24-year old had gone through a bit of a sticky spell of late, but will back himself to come out of it in time for the final run-in.

In particular, Sean Dyche will hope the same player that scored four times in three matches at the end of February and early in March to come back to prevalence in the Burnley team, because doing so will probably mean that they will end up winning the league.

The former Brentford man is a no-brainer for the player of the year shortlist, and should the Clarets end up missing out on promotion, Gray will feel that there will be a Premier League club waiting to snatch him up when the transfer window opens in July.

1) Ross McCormack

The Scottish striker has scored 21 goals for his Fulham side this season, and whilst he has scored less than Gray, he has reproduced it at a side fighting for survival rather than challenging for the title.

He also has put 61% of his shots on the target, the highest percentage of anyone on this list.

If you take away McCormack's goals, there is no doubting that this Fulham side would be in serious jeopardy, and Slavisa Jokanovic will be thankful that his star man has stayed injury free throughout his tenure.

The 29-year old moved to Craven Cottage from Leeds United in 2014, and how they will be regretting that now, as McCormack now looks set to lead his team to safety and the ability to go again this summer.
