Oxford United continued their preparations for next season yesterday by signing the grandson of a rather famous figure from the world of management.

They picked up Sam Allardyce, grandson of former England manager Sam, with the former Manchester United youngster signing a one-year deal with the club.

He's the second teenager to sign for the club in as many days, with former Wolves man Kevin Berkoe also arriving at the Kassam Stadium.

Karl Robinson believes it's a signal the club are building for the future, telling the club's website; "Kevin joining from Wolves means we have brought in two players who have spent time at big club academies and are hungry and want to push on and be part of the first team this season."

Social media was alight with news that a young player with a famous relative had signed for the club, and the reaction on Twitter was far more extensive than would usually be expected for a low key capture of a youngster from another club.

With Oxford ultimately finishing in the top half of the table after a season of struggle, their fans are in a position to have a laugh and joke this summer with plenty to look forward too.

Fans of other clubs have joined in on the fun too, with news of the youngster's capture making everyone sit up and take note, albeit for the wrong reasons.
