Marcelo Bielsa has handed the task of selecting Leeds United’s captain to his playing squad.

Leeds have lost Liam Cooper for around six weeks to a knee injury, which has deprived Bielsa of his captain for a crucial festive period.

Usually, the head-coach would select who takes over, but Bielsa has revealed to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay that he will allow Cooper’s teammates decide who will captain the Whites against Queens Park Rangers.

Pablo Hernandez was the player to captain Leeds to a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United last time out and remains an option to take the armband from Cooper in the coming weeks.

However, there are other options for Bielsa to consider, with Pontus Jansson and Kalvin Phillips two players who will be under consideration for the role.

It’s caused plenty of debate amongst Leeds’ supporters on Twitter, with many offering their thoughts on who should captain the team on Saturday…
