‘Too late now’ – These Sheffield Wednesday fans react to FA decision

Published

on

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Massimo Luongo has had his red card rescinded following a successful appeal by the club.

Luongo was given his marching orders in the 23rd minute of Wednesday’s 5-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, following a tackle on Rovers’ Lewis Travis.

Referee Jared Gillett deemed the tackle as ‘foul play’ and gave the 27-year-old a straight red card which would have meant the Australian would have served a three match ban.

Following the successful appeal, Luongo is now available to face his former club QPR in the FA Cup on Friday.

With the news breaking on Tuesday evening via Twitter, many Wednesday fans were quick to have their say on the decision.

Many fans were quick to point out that the latest decision was the correct one, with some fans jokingly pointed out that the result should also be rescinded.
