Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Massimo Luongo has had his red card rescinded following a successful appeal by the club.
Luongo was given his marching orders in the 23rd minute of Wednesday’s 5-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, following a tackle on Rovers’ Lewis Travis.
Referee Jared Gillett deemed the tackle as ‘foul play’ and gave the 27-year-old a straight red card which would have meant the Australian would have served a three match ban.
Following the successful appeal, Luongo is now available to face his former club QPR in the FA Cup on Friday.
With the news breaking on Tuesday evening via Twitter, many Wednesday fans were quick to have their say on the decision.

So he should have had it was never a red card I'm just so disappointed that Lewis Travis chose to roll around on the ground once he saw the red card he got up no treatment required he should be brought to book over his antics its cheating full stop unsporting behaviour #badboy
