‘Too good to be true’, ‘I’m on my knees’ – Many Nottingham Forest fans react as transfer update on Millwall star emerges

Championship side Nottingham Forest are preparing to enter a tussle with Super Lig side Besiktas for the signature of Millwall winger Jed Wallace, according to The Telegraph’s John Percy.

The 27-year-old was reportedly set to sign for the Turkish side on a pre-contract agreement as per Sky Sports (5/1, 11:33am), with Wallace able to talk to teams abroad due to his contract situation with his deal at The Den expiring at the end of the campaign.

This potential move abroad was seen as surprising news to many fans of the second-tier side’s fans – but this latest development could be seen as just as much of a shock with Steve Cooper’s men not guaranteed to go up next season despite their impressive form under the Welshman.

However, they have lofty ambitions, making a real statement of intent with their recruitment drive last summer and have already moved quickly to recruit Keinan Davis and Steve Cook this month, with the latter arriving permanently from AFC Bournemouth.

At this stage, they would be unable to approach the Millwall star on a pre-contract agreement with the two sides playing in the same country – but this hasn’t stopped the determined Reds who are now thought to be persevering in this race to recruit the winger.

Scoring five goals and recording six assists in 21 league appearances this term and being Gary Rowett’s side’s main talisman in recent seasons, he was understood to be the subject of interest from Burnley, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Brentford, Celtic and Rangers.

But he may now remain in the Championship if the East Midlands outfit can strike an agreement in time to keep him in England.

With this latest development emerging this afternoon, we take a look at how a selection of Forest fans reacted.
