October was a difficult month for Leeds United in the Sky Bet Championship, with Thomas Christiansen’s side suffering four defeat from five fixtures, which has ultimately seen them head into November outside the top-six.

Sheffield Wednesday, Reading, Sheffield United and Derby County all beat Leeds over the course of the month, as well as Leicester City, who knocked the Whites out of the Carabao Cup. The only time Christiansen’s side tasted success was against Bristol City, where Leeds stormed to a 3-0 victory at Ashton Gate, thanks to a brace from Samuel Saiz and a Pierre-Michel Lasogga header.

Saiz has been a shining light in a miserable month for Leeds, with the Spanish playmaker putting in some exceptional performances, despite his side’s struggles. The 26-year-old has been rewarded for a fine month with a place in the whoscored.com Championship Team of the Month for October.
