‘Too good for League One’, ‘No thank you’ – Plenty of Portsmouth fans left divided at transfer news

Former Millwall defender James Meredith is training with League One side Portsmouth, as he looks to earn a permanent deal with Kenny Jackett’s side.

The Australian is still on the lookout for a new club after being let go by the Lions at the end of last season, upon the expiry of his contract at The Den.

The 31-year-old made 85 appearances for Neil Harris’ side after arriving from Bradford City in 2017, with 38 of those appearances coming in all competitions last season.

The left-back position is an area that Pompey could well be looking to strengthen, after regular defender Lee Brown limped off in the 3-3 draw with Coventry City in midweek.

Championship Picks

Brandon Haunstrup came on to replace Brown against the Sky Blues, and he will now be hoping to nail down a place in the starting line-up ahead of their clash with Blackpool next weekend.

But with Meredith seemingly on the Blues’ radar, we take a look at what Portsmouth fans have made about this piece of transfer news…
