Tony Xia bought the club from Randy Lerner in May 2016, shortly after Villa’s relegation from the Premier League.
The club had had a dismal season or two, and were relegated after hardly putting up a fight under various managers at the end of the season.
The claret and blues were in desperate need of a change and Tony Xia’s management model was different to that of American businessman Lerner.
Xia’s first interview at the club was memorable: he told the fans that he hopes the revamp will turn the club into one of the world’s top three clubs.
Give him time, but it’s not happening yet.
In Villa’s first transfer window under Xia, they spent mass figures on talent and only a few of the signings have proved to be value for money.
