Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis is expecting a tough test against Leeds United should the game go ahead as planned tomorrow.

Even though the weather that has hit the UK has put this fixture in doubt, Pulis will prepare his team for the game and told his players to be up for the challenge physically and mentally.

They’ve (Leeds United) got some good players, they’ve got a competent squad for the Championship and it’ll be a tough game,” he explained to the official site.

Physically they’re tough and they have got some quality in their team. We’ll be expecting a tough game and every game in this league is tough, and every game is physically and mentally demanding and you have to be up for it.”

It’s a crucial fixture for both sides, with Leeds six points behind sixth placed Sheffield United with Boro just three points behind.

That arguably makes this game a must-win encounter for both sides and the ex-West Brom boss wants his players to embrace that pressure.

There are demands on the players and our players have to realise it, accept it and grow with it.”

The Verdict

Hopefully this game goes ahead as it should be a great clash between two big sides who are desperate for a win.

Pulis is clearly aware of the threat that Leeds offer and his message is a clear warning to his players that they can’t just turn up and expect to win.

As the away side, Leeds can hope to play on the anxiety that may creep into the Boro players, but ultimately it’s all about the three points for both clubs.
