Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has singled out Corry Evans for praise, saying the 29-year-old's return to the side has coincided with Rovers' upturn in form.

Mowbray has singled out Evans' ability to recycle possession as to making the difference in Rovers' recent upturn in form.

Blackburn have won five out of their last six games with Evans featuring in four of those including the 1-0 win against Derby County last time out where he provided the assist for Adam Armstrong's goal.

Evans had only managed one appearance for the club before October but a run of seven appearances in the last 10 games has seen him become one of the more consistent starters in central midfield.

Despite Mowbray changing up his midfield regularly this season, the partnership of Evans and Lewis Travis is becoming a success for Rovers with the pair winning 10 of the 13 matches they have started together.

Speaking of Evans' attributes, Mowbray told the Lancashire Telegraph: "He plays on the front foot so the number of times he turns the ball over for us from the opposition’s passing because he anticipates and reads things.

"You have to turn the ball over in midfield and Evans is as good as we’ve got at doing that and getting us on the front foot," continued Mowbray. "That’s crucial for the way we play because then it goes into Dack, Armstrong runs, Dack swivels finds Armstrong who crosses it and Graham scores or whoever."

Blackburn make the trip to Swansea City on Wednesday night and Evans will be hoping to make his fourth consecutive start as Rovers go in search for a fourth win in a row.

The Verdict

It's no coincidence that Mowbray has spotted what Evans has bought to the team as Rovers' form has turned around.

The 29-year-old has made his play look effortless in the last few games and is a large factor as to why Rovers have been able to move the ball up the field quickly and convert their chances.

Rovers' recent run of form has seen them climb to within two points of the play-off places and should Evans find some consistency in his role, he could be a key part of Rovers' play-off push.
