Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has said that the club is continuously talking to agents and says they have targets identified, the club reported on Twitter

The club have still only brought in two new faces to Ewood Park in the shape of Oxford United midfielder Joe Rothwell and Manchester City's Jacob Davenport

“Every day we’re talking to agents and we have several targets," Mowbray told the crowd at a Q&A session following the release of the club's new home kit.

"We want to progress onwards, progress forwards and build this club. We’re spinning several plates.”

Blackburn enjoyed an impressive campaign as they were promoted from League One last season with 96 points, two behind Champions Wigan scoring 82 goals along the way.

Speaking on the coming season Mowbray says that the Championship promotion race is open to anyone.

"I think the Championship will be a really interesting league,” Mowbray said.

“I think it’s actually pretty open and we have a real opportunity to be competitive.

"They’re all tough games, but we shouldn’t fear anyone this season.”

Elsewhere, it was reported in the Lancashire Telegraph that Rovers were close to agreeing a new deal for midfielder Bradley Dack, with Mowbray saying the deal is "pretty much there".

The verdict

There has been an awful lot of talk coming out of Blackburn Rovers this summer but not an awful lot of action.

They have a good basis of a squad and should survive even if no more signings are made, but I suspect Mowbray, the rest of the club and the fans will be hoping for a more positive season.

If that is to happen, a lot more work needs to be done and the squad needs to be seriously strengthened.
