Charlton Athletic striker Tomer Hemed has delivered an update as he continues his return to full fitness in order kick-start his spell at The Valley.
The 32-year-old picked up a knock shortly after the 3-0 win against Derby County just over a month ago and is yet to play since, but he sent a message on his Instagram story which indicated he is nearing a return to full fitness.
Writing alongside a picture of his boots post-training, Hemed said simply: “Keep grinding”.
Can you name Charlton’s 15 most expensive signings of all time?
He was signed on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window but so far has only made five appearances and is yet to find the back of the net.
Prior to his summer move, he had netted 35 goals in 108 Championship appearances, including seven during a loan spell with Queens Park Rangers last season.
He will be desperate to get back amongst it in order to help the Addicks secure their second-tier status following their promotion from League One last season.
As things stand, Lee Bowyer’s side sit in 11th place with 16 games played and could move to within a point of the top-six with a win against Cardiff on Saturday.
I am certain that Hemed will get his chance to impress this season, he may just need to bide his time.
The season in the Championship is unlike many others in football and his striking comrades will almost certainly pick up injuries as well.
So when that chance comes, it will be down to him to take it.
