Derby County winger Tom Lawrence has taken to social media to respond to the club's official Instagram's account's post regarding the goals that he has scored so far this season.

Having narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season via the play-offs, the Rams initially made an underwhelming start to the 2019/20 campaign under the guidance of manager Phillip Cocu.

Lawrence, who was embroiled in a drink-driving scandal in September which eventually culminated in Richard Keogh being sacked by Derby for his actions, struggled considerably for consistency during the opening months of the campaign.

However, since the turn of the year, the Wales international has stepped up his performance levels for the Rams as he has provided seven direct goal contributions in his last 10 appearances in the Championship.

Given that the Rams are currently five points adrift of the play-off places with nine games left to play, Lawrence will be determined to guide side to a top-six finish when the season eventually resumes.

Whilst Derby's clashes with Millwall, Reading and Preston North End have all been postponed as a result of recent events, they are currently scheduled to face arch-rivals Nottingham Forest on April 4th at Pride Park.

Having lost twice to the Reds already this season, the Rams will be determined to claim bragging rights in the latest East Midlands derby.

After Derby's Instagram account shared a montage of Lawrence's goals, the winger responded by posting: "Can we get the football out yet?"

The Verdict

When you consider that Lawrence hasn't played for the Rams since their defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup earlier this month, it is hardly surprising that he wants to resume the season as soon as possible.

With the English Football League confirming yesterday that they want to finish the current campaign, Derby could make their return to action in the not-too distant future.

Having already found the back of the net on nine occasions in the Championship, Lawrence could potentially prove to be a pivotal player for the Rams in the coming months.

By utilising his abundance of talent to his advantage, the 26-year-old may set the second-tier alight between now and the end of the season.
