Nottingham Forest made it six games unbeaten with a goalless draw against fierce rivals Derby County at the City Ground yesterday.

In truth, it was a game that had very few clear chances although the visitors did have the better of it until Tom Huddlestone was sent off in the second-half.

However, even though it was only a point for Aitor Karanka’s men, there were positives to take with the defensive display the obvious one.

Tobias Figueiredo and Danny Fox in particular, looked very accomplished in central defence.

The Portuguese defender has been a hit with fans since arriving in January and took to Twitter today to thank them for their support.

Incredibly, that was the first time that Forest had kept back-to-back clean sheets this season and it’s clear that Karanka’s work is beginning to pay off.

They also have three in their last six games which represents a major improvement - all since the 24-year old came into the team.

Forest are back in action on Saturday when they face play-off chasing Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

The Verdict

Figueiredo has made a big difference to Forest since he joined, with the Reds unbeaten since he came into the side.

A big reason for that is that he has given them a real strong base to build from and put in another assured performance against the Rams yesterday.

Clearly he was very impressed with the atmosphere in the East Midlands derby yesterday and fans will hope the side continue their recent form in the coming weeks.
