Sheffield United have played five matches in all competitions with a return of two wins and three defeats for Chris Wilder's men.

One of the common denominators in the two wins, is 32-year-old striker Billy Sharp who started and scored in both matches.

So, is it fair to say the Blades rely too much on 5ft 9 Billy Sharp?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

To an extent.

The two games he started, he scored and they won.

The two he came on a substitute for they failed to win and Sharp failed to score.

Last season his importance was noticeable and trying to change that this season hasn’t worked with Sharp being the match-winner in both their league wins this season so far.

He is a talisman for the Bramall Lane side and they need him more than Chris Wilder and the fans may think.

Gary Hutchinson

No, because they’re not starting him every game.

I think they know his time is slowly coming to an end, but his goal proved they are right to have faith in him.

Everyone knows they need extra strength there.

Wilder is looking for strikers, not just to replace Sharp but also Clarke and to a degree McGoldrick.

Jay Williams

I don't think so. Especially if they sign a new striker, they can rotate their striker options.

With Sharp competing with Leon Clarke, David McGoldrick and possibly Scott Hogan, Chris Wilder knows that he can always field two good players up front.

Sharp's experience is really helpful for Sheffield United, he continues to score goals and he is a fans' favourite.

But I am not sure they are overly reliant on him as they do have other options they can turn to.

George Dagless

I don't think so.

Sharp is a talismann and will always give the team a boost when he comes on or starts.

They have other good players that can help them along though.
