Prospective Derby County owner Chris Kirchner praised the "pure grit" shown by the Rams in their 3-2 win over Bournemouth yesterday, which has caused a stir among fans of the East Midlands club.

Tom Lawrence's brace turned the game around in the second half after goals from Jaidon Anthony and Dominic Solanke had helped the Cherries to a 2-1 lead at the break despite Jason Knight's opener.

Less than a week after being handed a second points deduction, Wayne Rooney's side ended Bournemouth's unbeaten run away from home in 2021/22 and Kirchner was certainly impressed, as his message after the final whistle indicates.

The American businessman looks like the frontrunner to become Derby's next owner and confirmed via Twitter last week that he was still keen to complete his takeover deal despite the second points deduction, which makes it very likely the Rams will be playing in League One next season.

His message after yesterday's game has certainly caught the attention of the club fanbase, with many supporters taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.
