With midfielder George Saville making a loan move to Middlesbrough, Millwall manager Neil Harris moved swiftly to bring in 26-year-old Ryan Leonard in on a loan to buy deal from Sheffield United to fill his boots.

Leonard made his debut for the Lions in the 1-1 draw with Championship pacesetters and made an impressive start in the middle of the park.

But is Leonard good enough to replace Saville?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

He isn’t as good as Saville, but it’s a fairly decent replacement.

When you consider the deal on the whole, Millwall have done very well.

They’ve received plenty of cash and sourced a much cheaper replacement.

Jay Taylor

I think he is. George Saville wasn’t missed in the weekend’s draw against Leeds.

Ryan Leonard had more touches and more completed passes than any other Millwall player last weekend on what was his full Championship debut for his new side.

There will be more to come from the midfielder who is of a similar age to Saville and looks to be a more physical player that can play between both boxes and dominate matches going forward.

George Dagless

Time will tell.

Saville was an integral part of things at the New Den but he has gone and Leonard has the chance to stake his claim.

He has quality and the opportunity to step up.

Gary Hutchnson

Time will tell, but anyone expecting him to be as effective immediately is going to be disappointed.

He looked a great player for Southend and there’s no reason to suggest he won’t show that promise again, but he was never going to be a diamond from the off.

If he was comparable with Savile he would have cost a lot more. Neil Harris’ job is to make him as good a [player, not just expect it right now.
