Aston Villa fans can heave a big sigh of relief as they will be challenging for promotion to the Premier League with ace Jack Grealish still in their ranks.

Despite strong interest from Spurs, they failed to meet Villa's valuation of the player and so Grealish remains to form the backbone of Steve Bruce's promotion push.

So will Grealish regret not making the move to the Premier League? Should he have been allowed to leave?

We discuss.....

It isn’t down to him.

If the club does not want to sell, they won’t sell, end of.

He might have harboured hopes of playing in the Premier League but with the new investment, Villa are aiming to get there themselves.

Grealish is at his boyhood club so its highly unlikely he would throw his toys out the pram and go AWOL or refuse to play to force a move.

He has respect for the club and is professional enough to get on with his job, despite how he might feel.

A chance at top-flight football will come, Grealish just has to get his head down and if Villa go up its Premier League time, if not, you can see him leaving in the summer.

He is young enough and will have more than this opportunity to move to one of the big clubs, so long as he carries on how he has been playing and improve between now and the summer.

His long-term development could well benefit from another season in the Championship.

He is the star man in this Aston Villa team, all the attacks revolve around him and the fans adore the local lad, who supported the Villans when growing up.

At Tottenham, he may have improved under Mauricio Pochettino with their track record of developing young English talent and he would have been competing for silverware in the Premier League and the Champions League.

But if the 22-year-old continues to impress at Aston Villa, he will get his chance again – be that in January or in the summer.

Gary Hutchinson

I hope not. There's something wholly refreshing about seeing a young man remaining at a club after such a drawn out saga. Even more, he's conducted himself impeccably this summer and I admire and respect him more for it.

George Dagless

Time will tell.

He's one of the best in the league and needs to be playing top flight football soon.

I don't think he's missed his chance to do so, either, and I think next summer we'll see him go if Villa do not go up.

He seems ready to fight for them, too, which is a good thing.
