Peterborough United have revealed that Marcus Maddison has been given permission to speak to Charlton Athletic after the Championship side had a bid accepted for the attacking midfielder.

The 26-year-old has been an influential player for the Posh over the years and has been productive in front of goal this season, scoring nine times and providing six assists in 22 games.

Despite that, his form has dipped recently, with Maddison failing to score in the league since the start of November.

And, it appears that his substitute appearance against Gillingham on Saturday could be his final game, with the club's official site confirming that the Addicks have made a suitable offer.

As you would expect, the news prompted plenty of talk among the support, with some feeling that Maddison will be sorely missed as they seek promotion to the Championship, although others don't feel the player has been as committed as he should be recently.
