Huddersfield Town have shocked most people this season after their fast start saw them sitting at the top of the Championship until mid-October.

When they surrendered their place to Norwich back then, many tipped Huddersfield to spiral downwards and end up back in mid-table.

However, it was Norwich who actually suffered that fate and Huddersfield have kept pace with the rest of the chasing pack.

The Terriers, under the excellent guidance of highly rated German David Wagner, are currently 4th in the table, six points behind Newcastle and with a six point gap keeping them inside the play-off zone.

Huddersfield will be very keen to maintain a promotion push and that might mean bringing in one or two fresh faces this January to continue competing with the best clubs in the division.

This may also mean offloading a couple of fringe players to generate funds and here are 2 that Wagner needs to let go this week.

Joe Murphy

Experienced goalkeeper Joe Murphy is getting nowhere near a look-in at Huddersfield any more.

The Irishman has not played a single game this season after being limited to 10 outings last year.

With Danny Ward as first choice and Joel Coleman as second choice, as well as Luke Coddington being on the books, do Huddersfield really need the 35-year-old?

Joe Lolley

Another player who is not getting much playing time is Joe Lolley.

The creative winger has shown glimpses of his talent since joining from non-league Kidderminster but realistically he will not get into the side ahead of attacking midfielders Izzy Brown, Kasey Palmer, Aaron Mooy and Rajiv Van La Parra.

The 24-year-old is at a crucial stage of his career and needs to leave to get regular game time.
