This summer’s transfer business will be key in determining whether Sheffield United can build on last season.
The Blades impressed in their first season back in the Championship because they managed to finish in 10th place. Chris Wilder used a 3-5-2 formation effectively, which got the best out of his team because they were hard to break down and overloaded the opposition wings well to create plenty of chances for Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp.
Wilder’s future was in doubt near the end of last season, but he signed a new contract with assurances over the transfer budget available to him. Therefore, personnel changes will be happening this summer, although the depth of the squad means that proven quality needs to be to the priority if they want to start consistently challenging for the play-offs.
