Birmingham City will be hoping form picks up under new manager Gianfranco Zola very soon indeed as they look to push back towards the top six in the Championship.

The Blues are without a win in the seven games since Zola moved to the club and supporters are getting worried that this slump in form could be here to stay.

But a saving grace over the past couple of days has been the transfer activity we've seen happen at the club, with promising defenders Emilio Nsue and Cheick Keita signing deals this week, as well as attacking midfielder Kerim Frei.

They've joined Craig Gardner and Lukas Jutkiewicz at St Andrew's this January and with more additions still to be made, Blues fans should try and remain optimistic that the Italian is doing everything in his power to turn things around.

And with some time still left in the window, we feel there are a few players Blues could very much do with bringing in over the next couple of days.

So with that in mind, here's 3 players Birmingham could realistically seal deals for next week...

Wayne Routledge

After Birmingham City confirmed the signing of Kerim Frei on Friday afternoon, the need for yet another wide-man in the side may have somewhat diminished.

Some Birmingham fans felt the £3million price-tag slapped on Swansea winger Wayne Routledge was a little too pricey but still, he remains a player that could potentially come in over the next few days.

He's got plenty of top flight experience and still has that wicked yard of pace that has seen him do so well at the Liberty Stadium over the past few years.

Johnny Russell

The Johnny Russell rumours have gone quiet over the past few days but the Derby forward is certainly the sort of player who could add something a little different to this Birmingham City squad.

Often played out wide but traditionally a striker, the former Dundee man has pace to burn and is a proven force at this level when fit and playing well.

Jordon Mutch

Ask any Birmingham City fan and they will tell you how often the club are linked with former players.

Alas, it might be true but another name that has been linked with a move back to St Andrew's this January is Jordon Mutch.

The Crystal Palace midfielder is struggling to break into the firs -team down at Selhurst Park and a loan move away has been tipped over the past couple of weeks.

He's another good addition that would certainly sure up the Birmingham midfield, so could we be seeing both Gardner and Mutch back in Blue come the end of January?
